Moving from Groupmail 6 to the all new Groupmail – FAQ

How much does the new Groupmail cost if I already use Groupmail 6?

All current Groupmail 6 customers can obtain a 50% discount on the all new Groupmail. Contact hello@groupmail.io to request discount.

Does the new Groupmail replace our current Groupmail?

Nope. Your existing Groupmail account stays exactly the same. The all new Groupmail is now called simply Groupmail. Both versions will live side by side as separate products. You can continue to use Groupmail 6, you can switch to the new Groupmail, or you can use both of them together. It’s up to you.

Do I get a new Groupmail account automatically?

No. You only get a new Groupmail account if you want one. If you don’t do anything, or you don’t care about the new Groupmail, everything remains the exact same for you. If you do want to try the new Groupmail, sign-up for your free account.

Are we going to be forced to move to the new Groupmail?

Nope. Switching to the new Groupmail is entirely optional for current Groupmail customers. No one is being forced to switch or even forced to try the new Groupmail. Groupmail 6 is not going away. If you prefer Groupmail 6 you can keep using Groupmail 6.

Can we try the new Groupmail with our current data to see what it’s like before deciding I want to switch?

Absolutely. If you’re a current Groupmail 6 customer, start for free on the new Groupmail.

If I start using the new Groupmail, what happens to my current Groupmail 6 account?

Nothing changes in your current account. All your data, contacts, messages, settings, and everything else are untouched. Everything is the same as it always was. Groupmail 6 and the new Groupmail don’t share data – they are completely separate products. Changes in one won’t affect the other. You can keep using both together or pick one.

Can we use both Groupmail 6 and the new Groupmail together?

If you’d like, yes. For example, you can continue to use Groupmail 6 for your existing lists and newsletters but start up new new lists and newsletters using the new Groupmail. Or you can dive right into the new Groupmail and copy all your Groupmail 6 data over. It’s entirely up to you. What you do in Groupmail 6 has no effect on the new Groupmail and vice versa.

Can we move our data from one to the other?

Yes, you can import data from Groupmail 6 into the new Groupmail and vice versa. You can choose which data you want to import. When you copy data from Groupmail 6 to the new Groupmail, it remains in Groupmail 6 for safe keeping. Nothing is deleted in your Groupmail 6 account. This is the same if you copy data from the new Groupmail to Groupmail 6, it remains in the new Groupmail for safe keeping.

Is data shared/synced between the versions or are they separate? Do changes appear in accounts?

No. Data in Groupmail 6 is separate from data in the new Groupmail. A change in one doesn’t affect the other. If you copy data from Groupmail 6 into the new Groupmail, it’s just a copy – the original stays in Groupmail 6. If you decide to manage the data using the new Groupmail, the version in Groupmail 6 stays just as it was before you copied it over.

Are the features in Groupmail 6 and the new Groupmail the same? What’s different?

Groupmail 6 and the new Groupmail are entirely different products. They have a similar set of core features (contacts, messages, groups, editor, templates etc), but the features are executed differently in each product. The new Groupmail also includes dozens of new features that Groupmail 6 doesn’t have, but it also doesn’t have some of the features that Groupmail 6 has. You can learn more about the new Groupmail at: https://groupmail.io

If we use both, do we have to pay for both?

Yes. However all current Groupmail 6 customers can obtain a 50% discount on the all new Groupmail. Contact hello@groupmail.io to request discount.

If I don’t like the new Groupmail, can I switch back?

Regardless of what you do in the new Groupmail, all your data in Groupmail 6 remains safe in Groupmail 6. If you try the new Groupmail, and you just don’t like it, you can just go back to using the Groupmail 6 account you already had. You can just pick up where you left off. Everything that was there is still there – all your messages, data, contacts, etc.

Will you continue to improve Groupmail 6?

The majority of our design and development efforts moving forward will be focused on the all new Groupmail, but we’ll continue to support Groupmail 6 as long as customers continue using it. We expect that to be for many many years.
